Our 2022 interior design predictions are that we are going to see a lot more in the way of modern yet environmentally conscious design. We anticipate a lot of chic, minimal styling with a shift from darker hues like mustard and olive to a more pastel colour palette and not to be cliche, but fifty shades of white sounds about right as we head into the new year. We’re also seeing a lot more metallic interior design elements, from furniture to home finish hardware and home decor.
For families looking to be up-to-date with interior design trends, this one’s for you. Keep scrolling to see our 2022 interior design trend predictions.
Metalic Accents
Whether you’re redesigning your current home or building a brand spanking new one, metallic accents are most likely on the agenda. It may be tapware, finishes, or lighting fixtures, there are about five thousand (that may be an exaggeration, but there’s a lot!) different metals to choose from.
Keep in mind that if you’re in the process of re-styling your home to keep up with the current interior design trends, you don’t have to gut your entire house to bring in metal elements. You can easily invite these accents into your home in the way of home decor or furniture. Think metal photo frames, dining chairs, or bar stools with metal legs or you could even swap out your kitchen utensils for metallic ones that are displayed on your benchtop.

Minimal Styling
Less is more. You’ve heard of that saying, right? Minimal styling has been floating around the last few years, but we’re predicting that 2022 is the year that minimal styling really has its turn at the top.
More and more families are investing in better quality furniture and having less of it. Opting for solid timber pieces that will stand the test of time over veneer alternatives is becoming a real trend in the furniture world. Customers are turning up with more knowledge on quality products and are willing to invest in these pieces.

Eco-Styling & Natural Materials
Like we mentioned earlier, a lot of people are more educated on product quality, the resources used to make it, and where it was made. Being environmentally friendly is a big trend within the interior design world.
We’re sure you’ve noticed the amount of marketing surrounding ‘linen fabric’ both within the interior design and fashion worlds. Linen is a durable and natural fiber derived from the flax plant and is considered to be one of the cleanest fabrics of all. We’re spotting it on sofas, dining chairs, linen and even curtains. Not only is linen a more sustainable option, but it also has a softly textured natural, timeless look that will never go out of style.

Versatile Spaces & Accents of White
The interior design world has been evolving over the last few years and encouraging home owners to get creative with their spaces. Sticking to strict themes is a thing of the past. We’re seeing a massive trend in eclectic spaces. People are bringing in elements of modern with shabby chic. Industrial spaces with a touch of Hamptons. And elements of coastal interiors are popping up in farmhouse style homes.
House plants will make a big statement in 2022 interior design. Not only do they purify the air and look great, but they provide a sense of tranquillity. House plants are also known to help with concentration and if you’re not a green thumb, there are some amazing options with faux plants.
One thing we know for sure is 2022 is going to be the year of white! Whether your interior design theme is Hamptons, coastal, contemporary, modern, monochrome, or even shabby chic. White is going to be HUGE in 2022.
There are no rules when it comes to styling your home and 2022 is the year that people really let loose and put their own personal flare into their interiors.
